Subway Hike

This July the family tackled the 9.5 mile hike through Zion that is called the Subway.  You have to hike, repel, and swim through pools.  Justin was our repel guide since he has a lot of rock climbing experience.  It took us 9 hours to get from top to bottom.  It was incredible and one of the coolest things I have ever done!
Just getting started on the way down

It got pretty narrow!

The Subway!

After we made it to the Subway we still had to hike out!  We scaled huge boulders had some swimming and the hardest part was the last 45 minutes that was straight up the side of a mountain.  It was exhausting, but we made it!  Our joy of making it to the top soon ended when I realized I lost the key to the car.  They were somewhere between where we started our 9 hour journey to where we had ended.  I was devastated!  The worst part was we all had work the next morning in Logan and we knew we were already going to get home late.  We spent two hours getting ahold of a tow company, explaining how to find us and getting the Avalon open.  The Avalon is a smart car meaning even if you jimmy the lock it won't allow you to unlock it from the inside after you clicked the lock from the outside.  We had a new plan.  We had the car guy try to get the lanyard since I took the key off and left the unlock device in the side of the door.  He hooked it and started talking to us and dropped it under the seat!  We couldn't believe it!  Then we remembered we had an extra set in the jockey box!  I put the keys Trev bought in there and stuck my purse on top.  He was able to open the jockey box, hook and move my purse, hook the key, get another jimmy device and push the unlock button.  It was  a long ride home and an early morning for work the next day, but totally worth the trip!
